Ok i'm not new to the hobby but I am new to this one and forms in general. I usually try to figure it out on my own but I may need a little extra help for this one. A section of my tank is being over run by green and red mushrooms. They quickly overtook an acro and killed it. I didn't think they would explode the way they did because they aren't getting much light under my torch and frogspawn's. I read somewhere that an anemone was a good way to get rid of them without introducing any fish in the tank that may or may not work. Since I have a few extra bubble tip's laying around i was thinking about using them to sting them away. What do you guys suggest?

From the sounds of it, your problem is already a "problem". Your best bet, in my opinion, is gonna be take the rock out and scrub it clean.

I'll have to get you a pic when the lights come on tomorrow. I have been slicing off the heads and putting them in my wife's seahorse tank but earlier today i just threw about 5heads that were about 2-2 1/2" across down the disposal. You can have all the frags you want cus i know in about 2-3weeks the ones i cut off will have 5 to replace each one.

Don't some mushrooms release toxins in the water when you start scrubbing them off? I know of a fellow who claims to have lost a bunch of corals because of that.

cactus coral aka pavona have a strong sting too, and some nice sweepers that will keep the shrooms at bay.

The anemone should do it since you already have one. Mine went wandering yesterday and killed half my favorite blasto before I saw it. Though BTA's are the more mellow of anemones (as far as sting) in pretty much any battle the anemones win. Which mushrooms are the problem in the pic- middle left? The red ones bottom left look like superman rhodactis, don't toss those! The green ones look like the generic green mushroom but put them up in the freebie section and people will take them.
