How to safely get rid of unwanted polyps (1 Viewer)

Hi all, my zoa garden are kinda getting taken over by this gold brown polyp, what would you suggest to deal with this? The rock is glued in already so kinda hard to take it out. And I do have a bottle of aiptasia-x. Should I try that? Or should I make my own kalk paste and kill like 20 every day? Any one got any experience on this?

Man, this is a hard one. I try to avoid these despite their beauty and simplicity.

If it were me...and I had these in my tank...I think the safest and best way would be to buy a laser and nuke em.

Tough one! But Im in the same boat. I have some that are encroaching on my favorite chalice and Im starting to see some die back on it. I was going to try and remove with a blade and relocate....maybe use some bone cutters and cut some of the rock back. Problem is that both of those would really only be temporary fixes because they would grow back and Im torn with the idea of moving the chalice because this happens to be its sweet spot.

Just make a pasty "hot water" kalkwasser Combo, turn off all your pumps and paste away then use a turkey baster and suck up...

Tony, thanks for the suggestion but can I ask more detail on how to make the paste? Using a syringe with hot water dense Kalkwasser?

I have a 5w laser that I use to control aiptasia and such, and I can say that frying zoas in a tank is risky. It isnt an instant vaporizing deal with lasers, it is more of a steady burn. In the 10 seconds it takes to kill a polyp a lot of toxin can be sluffed off into the tank. I wouldnt risk it.

First you would have hot water in a container and heat it up in the microwave you want it really hot it helps to mix the kalk better. Add enough kalk until you have a good paste very thick. Once you got a good mix you would suck it up with your syringe and gently pasted the stuff over the zoas kills on contact try to hit the mouth and have it all around you will see them melt and just suck it up with the turkey. Just keep the next batch hot and turn off your power-head and you wont make a mess once you suck it. Its more effective if its hot and pasty! Your fish and other corals won't even know what happens...

You should really do a lot of online study on this one. Have read where whole families in up in the hospital
trying to nuke polys. I most likely wouldn't touch them unless outdoors.

Usually a 5 watt laser. It’s safe in the water. Doing anything outside the tank is pushing the “airborne” limits. Y’all be careful. Keep them underwater.

Ya’ll just do one pylop at a time and run carbon when you start. Zoo’s are one thing...

If you have palythoa- ahh...you may want to just let them dry out in the sun away from the family. Not worth the risk in my opinion.
