I started this earlier today with leftovers from some other projects I did.

Looking good. Got mine put together today. Still needs sanding paint etc. Drilled my 75g on my 2nd attempt (cracked the first one) hopefully I can get it assembled this weekend but my wife is having surgery this week. :(

I did not realize how blurry that one pic was when I took it. It was just a quick snap shot before I came in to watch the spurs game. It need some sanding all over everything, a little more router work around the outside edge of the doors. I want to sand the face of the doors to blend a couple uneven ones. The first picture makes it look worse than it is. haha. I also need to find the euro style cup hinges I had laying around.

My neighbor had a pipe burst in his kitchen, so he got new cabinets. I asked if I could get all the hinges off the old ones. I may have gone through them already. I was hoping I had another couple sets laying around. Oh well, I will update tomorrow when the doors are mounted.

I just finished staining this thing. I am pretty happy with how it turned out. There is a learning curve to this sort of work, and this is probably number 6 or 8 for me. Only the last few were really done for aesthetics tho. My wife mandated that I can no longer just do the cheapest functional thing lol. It needs to look like furniture. If I lived alone, or had a separate building like reeftopia, I would probably just have cinder-blocks stacked on end with a table cloth looking thing over them. haha.

Point is, I have made my mistakes and miscalculations on other projects, so as long as the tank fits on top of this, it is good to go haha

Looks awesome Corey! Wish I had woodworking skills or acrylic skills heck any handywork skills LOL. If it doesn't have a keyboard I'm worthless.

Corey, what kind of wood are you using for support and doors?
Hey neighbor! There is no internal skeleton. The plywood is maple vaneer. The doors are poplar with some cheap quarter inch plywood as a panel, and the braces are scrap pine I had. The trim is pine as well. Poplar is the best for doors because it is very easy to shape.

Can I do the same for a 48"x24"x16" frag tank?

I would think so. I just built this so the aquarium sits directly on top of plywood. I still need to brace the back. If I had the diamond bit for the overflow and the 2 bulkhead fittings to plumb the overflow, this would have saltwater in it within days.
