I am on my third copper band butterfly this time around. My last system, I had one for years with no issues. The first one was fine for 2 weeks, then dies while I was on vacation. It looks like he got trapped against my eheim power head and died of stress. No other damage other than where the contact was with my power head. The last two have just been disoriented. By day 2 or 3 in the system, they are laying down. The only common sign is rapid breathing and no orientation. There are no external signs I can see. I have other fish (tomini tang, Xmas wrasse, and cherub angel.) They have been unaffected through the entire thing.

It seems odd for disease to strike like this. Ich and velvet have a long life cycle. Why day 2 or 3 on 2 different fish from 2 different stores. Is there an out of balance chemical that could do this? It looks like it was eating aptasia. Could a flat worm poison it if on the aptasia?

copperbands are extremely sensitive and have a low survival rate. Have tried many times. Currently have had one in quarantine 2 weeks.
Is eating but unless there are pigging out will not likely survive once they have competition for food.

they are a hit or miss. You can go through several before finding a winner.
