the other day someone told me this existed. I think it was gregg. Anyway, I have lots of electronics crap laying around, so, I did some research and built one; it was about a 3 hour BBQ haha. I had some huge ones in there. now they look like the tissue on sps that is going through STN.

I had a 12v 500ma power supply laying around. If anyone has had external hard drives or something similar, you probably have one of those laying around. 1/4" rigid airline tubing, 5/8"ish acrylic rod, zip ties, safety pin, sewing needle, a button, the female end to the power supply cable, and a plastic box my router bit came in. I will probably do pics or video tomorrow. I saved some aiptasia in the sump for my daughter to fry. :)

So far, the biggest ones I got are dead. The problem is that so many of them are inside rocks and snake through a pathway to reach the surface of the rock and expand. You need to keep the tip in them for some time while it works. If you just get close, or it pulls back and you maybe just get the tentacles, then you probably only hurt it. If you can touch the foot with the tip and then fire it off, you are in business. I would think that just making one of these from scratch(if you already have solder and an iron) would be between 10 and 15$ on the high end.

if they retreat to a hole then try super glue over the hole so they can't come back out.

So, the safety pin has disentigrated by now. There is hardly anything left of it. That said, I assume that aluminum has been going into the water from that end. Everything I researched said aluminum was no big deal. That said, I think carbon was the recommended thing to use. I think someone used a carpenter's pencil.
