I also flush the initial 1 min of water before running it through the DI resin. Doing this really helped extend the life of my DI resin. I replace my resin every 6-8 months when it reads anything but 0ppm.

Another potential cause of quick DI resin consumption is high CO2 content in your water. In Austin, certain areas, mainly north and east of Austin proper, have water that is laden with a higher CO2 content. This will exhaust the DI resin in weeks rather than months. The remedy is to fill up a brute trash can with RO water prior to the DI stage and then use a simple air pump to aerate the water for 12-24 hrs. Then you can use a small pump to push the water through the DI stage and your resin should last a lot longer if high CO2 content is the issue.

Here's a question, what's the TDS coming out of your RO membrane before the DI stage?

Hmm... I've never heard of running the unit without DI for a couple minutes. May have to put in a T and valve to give it a try.

Yeah, goal is to get two electronic solenoids and hook them up to my Apex so I can program an initial dump of the high TDS water at the initial run of the system before running it through the DI stage. Something with a 2 minute bypass at the beginning will allow my TDS to go from 120 down to 9 before I push it through my DI stage to scrub the last 9 TDS. I just have to get around to it one day. I said this two years ago and I still manually flush for 2 mins. RO/DI water

I always let me ro system run for about 2 gallons (use it as drinking water) and then run it thru DI. That helps ALOT.

I still have a co2 issue, but im fixing that here soon.

Almost as bad as me. I have several solenoids and all the hardware to run an arduino auto flush.

Figured I would turn it on 2 hours per day. I have not made a prototype or anything yet.
