Cool. He told me I should get the step up if I was going to run anything else off of it like a media reactor but said this one will be more than enough just for a return pump. Glad to hear they work good.

I would suggest from experience to go with as big a diameter return hose as possible. A 1/4 inch makes a huge difference. I went from a 1/2 to a 3/4 and almost tripled my return flow.

Absolutely. And when you're doing your plumbing, T off at least two ball valves to use for potential future equipment. You won't regret it. Worst case scenario your plumbing functions exactly the same with them inline and you're out $8.

I'll be using 3/4 for the return and 1 inch for the drain.

It was suggested to me that if I was going to T my return hose than to go bigger coming off the pump itself and reduce to 3/4 after the T.

I have a dcs 7000 which should push 900 gph but since I have a 3/4 inch return I can only get just over 600 gph. I'm happy with the pump but when I run a reactor I will go bigger off the pump.

What size tank do you have Malira? I also dont want my flow to high in the sump. I will regulate the flow in the DT with the power heads.

My son has a 90g DT and 55g sump, just like yours. The great thing about the pump is there are 10 settings. For my set up there isn't much difference between 7 & 8 and setting 8, 9 & 10 are exactly the same. I'm getting a 6x to 7x return which I really like.

My son has 2 rw8s and a tunze wave box for flow.

While my son is at college I care for the tank.

+1 for bigger pump and reduce speed at remote control.
