Dry rock constantly giving me issues in the beginning. So over it.

Phosphates high on a daily basis. Having to starve the tank to keep them under 0.3.

    So annoying..

Check out how dark the rock has become in such a short time frame:

    Hereís my little control station:

Tank still going through the typical dry rock early phases. Diatoms, elevated PO4, bacterial blooms, etc. Iím not really adding anything because itís still too young and this will be my future quarantine system for frags. At least Iíll have two independent systems that can function on their own if need be. Although thatís more work so Iím thinking about tying this one in with the new system.

    Tonight’s numbers:

    ALK: 9.7
    CAL: 450
    MAG: 1360
    PO4: 0.06
NO3: Took a rapid dive from 5 down to 0 tonight. Just dosed aggressively and it will be back to 3 tomorrow. Then will bring it back to 5 in the next 24 hours.

The PO4 has been dropping and I’ve noticed the NO3 is going with it. I’m having to up my dosing. The key is to not let it sit at zero so you don’t loose color. I think the corals are starting to consume more as well. I’ve noticed my ALK and CAL are starting to dip more.

I’ll probably stick a GHL on this thing soon. Then switch the GHL over to the 75 once it’s sucking ALK and CAL. Then I’ll likely tie this tank in for less maintenance. Just trying to figure that out as this will be my quarantine tank at that point. Might be better to leave it stand alone.
