Exactly - 290 construction killed so many businesses.

Just like Downtown main stree - light rail project.

Yeah... And the overhead in that space had to be high.

I am sure the cost of the space was high. That was big store. There was a lot of wasted space in the store too. The place could have been almost half the size and still would have had room.

My 13-year-old maroon and gold clownfish came from there. In fact, a lot of my longest-lived fish came from there. I always enjoyed visiting that store, and it was a place I would take out-of-town guests because that front display tank was so spectacular.

It's especially sad they have to close because of a temporary situation - that construction is bound to be completed eventually. Although, this is Houston...

Time estimates on completion for 290 is at a minimum 3 more months for the main lanes but total completion well into 2019. So while temporary, the damage is done and it's sad that yet another business is closing as a result of it.

I wish them all best of luck as I have gotten to know everyone there very well over the years.

Me too...did not buy too many fish from them but the ones I bought lived for a long time.

The girl with glasses (forgot her name) I know her for more than 2 decades...she used to work at City Pets.

This news made me sad as well, we loved going by just to look and enjoy the tanks they ran.

I swung by today and they still had plenty of frozen and dry food on sale, as well as additives to stock up on. Also they were selling the live rock from their pond.
