Does anybody have any opinions on this sump?

I think Iím gonna run this on my new 75/G. Anybody disagree? Does anybody think thereís something better in the same price range?

It will be in this color though.

If you're not planning on running a fuge, or have an external skimmer then that will be fine provided it has the capacity you are looking for and is within your budget. If you want a fuge for macro algae/nutrient export and pods, then I would suggest a model with a dedicated skimmer/fuge area.

I agree. This thing is already sitting at $500, but I really need a fuge. One small problem is that I’d like to fit my ATO reservoir under my stand too. With the 34 model, it barely squeezes in. If I go 44 I’m not sure that it will make it in there. I need to measure. It would be extremely close. If it did, the 44 has an extra section where I could have a fuge. :-) $500 vs $749!!! It’s hard to imagine paying that much for a sump.

This. I would probably opt for one with a dedicated fuge spot. The one I have doesn't have one and I kinda wish I gave up more space for a dedicated fuge.

Something like this one would be nice.

    https://www.ebay.com/itm/Trigger-Sys....c100005.m1851

I have been eyeing that one for a while now.

Another option is get a 40B from petco when they go on sale and get a sump baffle kit like this for it.

    https://www.ebay.com/itm/Triton-Refu...gAAOSwNA1bCyuT

With the sale the 40b plus the kit the setup comes out to under 200 and you can adjust the baffle positions for the skimmer and fuge sizes.

I noticed on the last $/Gal sale they excluded the 40 breeders. I couldn’t believe it. Not sure if it was just that store or what. Usually if one does it they all do it.

The only thing I didnít like about the Trigger Systems is the filter sock holders. Other than that I though they were very clean. You donít want the pipe going into the sock. Itís hard to change the socks out quickly and easily.

Petco haven't included anything above 29g in the $1/gal sale in about a year. Now what they do is drop the price of the 40B to 1/2 off ($50) when they have their big sales 2-3 times a year. I think that they are due for another one in the next month or so.

As for the Trigger filter sock design, I can agree with having the down pipe extending into the sock can make it challenging to change the sock. I setup my sump like that because I wanted it to be silent, but and found it to be a real hassle, especially if the sock is loaded up and overflowing. That's why I added a slip coupling just above the filter sock so I can slide the extension pipe off and pull it out then the sock comes right out. After the new sock is in I reinstall the extension pipe and the system is all quiet again.

hmm, they should just keep it in the $/G sale.

Yeah, been there done that. I hate it. Currently doing it now with my small tank. Never again.
