I put a insulating cover on top and 3 sides of aquarium and really makes a difference heating it. The lights are beneath the cover so they can not hang per say. Ya reefaholic come up to Ontario Not much to do in Sarnia (has casino and horse track) even though it is beautiful during the summer months 70 000 people on very clean but cool Lake huron and no traffic. Niagara falls and Toronto are the places to be if you want to do stuff. I go monthly to Niagara off season for 1 nighters to shop and do stuff... always have a great time. I do plan on coming back to Houston for another trip where I could use a hand. My aquarium is just the way I like it thanks. That is the way ...I like it whoo.. hoo hoo... hoo hoo hoo
    Fair enough tangs! Lol

Test your tank PO4 first with some reliable test kit like Hanna ultra low range Phosphorus checker-then dose a single drop or two/test/and repeat until your PO4 drops.

Like I said previously this stuff is potent so go very slow. Do not rush this otherwise you could kill everything. The less the water volume the higher the risk of killing everything so test/dose.

My skimmer cup after 3 full days

Yes, go slow. Start with a tiny dose. Then what you think is tiny, cut that in half.

It will drop your PH, possibly Alk (haven’t personally had that happen yet), and I’m sure the O2 level.

I can also strip the water column. I’ve done it. I think it killed some of my biological filter.

Other than that, it’s safe! Lol

Many years ago I would put 2 drops of bleach into my big fish pond .... this would get rid of the green algae in the water.... this what this reminds me of and bleach is very inexpensive. ... If I do use Sea Klean do I have to have a protein skimmer cus I sold mine like 10 years ago. I was not getting any protein coming off of it. If so I can always rig one up easily.

I would say yes protein skimmer is a must in order to export all the bind up PO4 particles/waste from the water columns.

Is there anybody currently on Marsh who has a HOB filter without a sump that wants to transform their tank.

I will personally come drill your tank and build your sump 100% free of charge and make it Reef Ready.

    ANYBODY??
Iíll be your huckleberry. Well Iíd like to pick your brain about drilling my tank and see if youíd be interested in my project. I technically already have a custom sump made to fit the stand I was given. And I have a glass holes overflow but I would possible like to consider another option. Iíll pm you.

I'm sure one of us can help - I have drilled at least 5 tanks. Update your location in your avator.
