    Top off container help

Looking for a top off container that is much taller than wide. I've got about 6"wx7"dx30"h of space. Any help? Thanks!

I used a dog food container for the longest from PetSmart, but your small footprint won't allow much of anything to fit.

    Hi, Carrie.
Would a piece of 4" PVC pipe work? You could cut it to whatever height you want.

    good luck,
    Steve

Not sure how much you are looking to spend but you could get a custom one built to your exact dimensions. Building An Obsession (BAO) is local. Also don't forget to keep in mind gravity and fluids. If the container is taller than the sump when filled all the way gravity will continue to siphon the water even after the pump stops pumping unless you have the feed hose higher. That can easily be accomplished just keep that in mind when deciding how tall you want the container. If you don't wanna spend much they make the plastic round containers for keeping cereal or rice etc that you can find at Walmart or container type stores. They just aren't very tall usually.

That's a small space. Have you considered placing a 10g aquarium on the side outside of the stand? Or whatever size. Petco is always running their dollar a gallon sale. Cheap method and it works nicely. I use them on my tanks. 29g and a 20 tall on the other. Last me about 1.5 weeks on each one before refill.

You could also try modular marine. They have done several custom items for me and have a quick turnaround. You can email the dimensions to them at Sales@ModularMarine.com

My first choice would be a way to work with Cathman's advice about the standard sized tanks. It would be worth your time to even build a simple wood enclosure, stain, etc to house some standard sized tanks. That's your best economic option.

The thickness of the acrylic needed to build a structure is primarily a result of the water depth, so with a very small, but tall container, the cost is going to jump up quickly (think a couple hundreds of dollars). If you want to go that route, I would recommend modular marine as well. Much shorter wait time (think a week, not 4-12 weeks), the price is fair, and the quality is the same, if not better than most builders that you will find.

I have a custom bao or zen, donít remember which. Itís a 10 gal tall. Very pretty but also $300, just to give a ballpark estimate on cost.
