    Take 2!

Ok finally got home with the new tank and rounded up the neighbors to help bring it in!

Here is take two of my build. I let hubby choose the location this time because he promised to make water changes easy and build a book shelf around it. I won't hold my breath on that last part Take 2!

Nice upgrade! Location of the tank is great for viewing and enjoyment.

thanks! LR but I need to clean everything. Was pretty nasty when I picked it up. Rocks are covered in all kinds of algae. Not sure how to proceed there actually.

Plumbing was all hard plumbed and designed for the previous sump so, I have to start over with that. Ordering parts now for that. Hopefully ill get to fill it up in another few days. Believe me it's killing me not being able to just start it up.

I think by now with all the money Iv spent on the last one and this one I coulda just bought a brand new one and had it already going by now Take 2! ah well. It'll be worth it🤞🏻

Yes pool acid but then rinse with hoes. Just to be safe dip it in ro di water for a few days and then you can place in tank.

I just acid washed 200/lbs of dry pukani rock.

Can you send me more instruction? Just dip it for a few min? Soak it? Strait acid? Or acid water mix? Don't wanna screw it up lol. I can have that going while I get this plumbing going

Sure - here's what I did and there are many other methods. The only thing that you got to watch for is the water/acid ratio and the amount of time you leave the rock in the acid.

    Here's what I did:

1-Filled out a tote with 40/g of tap water - add rocks

2-Placed a cheap pump in the tote for circulation (turn "ON" only after acid is added).

3-I added 2 full gallons of acid to the tote.

4-Let the rock soak for 15-20 minutes - and inspect rock if there is still algae let it soak in the acid for another 10-15 minutes. It all depends on how dirty is the rock. Mine was all white and pretty but all the gunk/dead organic that came out of it was unbelievable.

5-To neutralize the acid, add baking soda (buy the cheapest kind) to the acid and once the fizzing stops the acid has been neutralized.

6-Drain the water from tote (I did this process by our pool drain so it was much easier and my tote had a gate valve) - If you are doing it in the drive way you will see lots of white residue.

I have a good video but I could not upload here- shoot me a PM with your number and I can send it to you.
