Help with Vortech and 150g build

So I'm transitioning from my existing 90 gallon reef to a 150 gallon tank and I'm looking to start with upgrading my circulation pumps and a controller. I'm thinking about two Vortech MP40s and possibly controlling them with a Neptune Apex. What are you thoughts/recommendations? Do I need a reeflink to control my pumps or will the neptune provide that for me? I really like the Vortechs but I'm not completely sold on the Apex. What are you thoughts on it? Is it worth it? What feature would you find to be more beneficial for the tank? Thanks for the discussion and help.

I use my Apex to control my MP40's. You have to buy the wxm module to be able to control them and the vortex MP has to be the wireless one. It is great though as you can program the Apex to change the MP to different modes throughout the day. I would not buy the Apex to do just that though. I use my Apex for everything think on my tank. I use it for my lights (moon lights, main light, sump light, and work light under the tank) , PH monitor, return pumps, dosing, heaters, chiller, leak detection, temp probe, auto top off and more.

I'm old school and blast 2 mp 40s high in my tank and 2 mp10s high behind my rock work sculptures. Use reef flakes if you do this. Look at how you want to nutrient export and go from there. All that control is over rated in my opinion. Not making anything more happy or make growth accelerate. Just uses up a space on the controller.

Doesn't require any outlets on the Apex. It connects wireless to the MP's.

I like being able to switch the Vortech's program throughout the day, but it's certainly not necessary. Like Paul, you can just run em and have happy corals.

Well I could be wrong but I don't think the current stays the same all day long in the oceanHelp with Vortech and 150g build i could be wrong. I am just trying to mimic the ocean. And yes maybe your corals are happy but doesn't mean you couldn't make them happier. Plus why have a controller if you are not going to use it.

Thanks for the feedback guys. So would I need a reef link in addition to the Apex?

    NO.
    What you need is:
    1. Apex
    2. Neptune VXM module
    3. Ecotech MP wireless pumps (generation doesn't matter, could be 2nd generation, ES or QD as long it has the wireless chip)
Additional to the pumps, you can also control Ecotech Radion lights if you have them.
