All it has come to the BOD's attention that reefing pioneer and author Albert J. Thiel has lost his battle with cancer on the 23rd of April.

Mr. Thiel helped to revolutionize the reef keeping hobby in the 80's and 90's. He authored several marine and reef keeping related books and wrote articles for magazines such as Tropical Fish Hobbyist.

A gofundme page was created to help his family with medical costs related to his treatment. Currently it is well short of its stated goal so we are asking the reefing community here in Houston to help out if possible, no amount is to small.

Great guy. I am happy that I got an autographed copy of his nano reef book when it released. Great loss to the hobby for sure.

Rest in peace, sir. Albert Thiel

I'll give. Anyone who rocked an underground filter with coarse coral and their decorations were dead coral skeletons should. He gave us a lot. Him and Moe. Thank you.
