Important PLEASE READ and consider before posting your biography to run for a BoD position. Being on the board for 5 years and president for 3, I will ask the following from all BoD's moving forward:
    1. do your best to attend all meetings and events.
    2. submit a minimum of 2 activities they would like to organize and execute.
    3. adopt 1 or more sponsoring fish stores in their area and represent MARSH at the store for whatever the owner may need.
    4. actively help the officers make Reef Currents a successful show

Please evaluate your personal lives before applying. The BoD's put in a lot of hard work in the evenings and weekends (sometimes even at work!) to make MARSH an awesome club. If you have many other activities that consume your time, you travel for work, you just want a blue name on MARSH, you may have some life changing events coming up, etc. PLEASE do not run for the BoD. As stated earlier, we are always looking for volunteers at events. You do not have to be on the BoD to volunteer to help. The Board of Directors is for a group of people that has the time and energy to devote to make MARSH as great of a club as it can be. MARSH BoD's should be just as active on the MARSH forums as they are out and about town promoting the club.

I do not want to post this to offend anyone or scare anyone away. I just want to make sure everyone knows up front what is involved. It's not fair to the BoD's when only 1/2 of the board shows up to any given event/meeting. Here's to an awesome 2017 and new Board of Directors!!

I would like to run for a BoD position. I have been an active member for two years and served on the BoD for the last six months. In that time I have become intimately familiar with the inner workings of the club and Reef Currents. Like everyone I have made mistakes and I hope to have learned from them. I realize that not everyone shares the same opinion and with that in mind, I pledge to act according to the Marsh Bylaws and the Code of Conduct when addressing disagreements.

I would like to propose a summer frag swap similar to the one I organized last year and a fragging demo for each type of coral.

I strongly urge anyone who has brought up issues and complaints to also run for a BoD position.

2017 Board of Dirctors elections - Call for Volunteers

I have been thinking about running for the past few weeks . I have been wondering what the process was it was almost meant to be when I saw Mark posting this !!! Thanks Mark!

I would like to run for BoD position!! After this past year of Marsh I would like to step up and be more involved with the community and devote my time and efforts to make Marsh a better forum in whatever way. A little about how I started. January 11, 2016 doctors told me I have a brain tumor, I went in for a check up due to a sleepless headache for over 2 days. Doctors told me I felt the pressure from the tumor hemorrhage. To be honest I've never been so scared in my life. It's been a very rough past year, in and out of hospital . I was blessed that the tumor was benign!! After a few days I went in for surgery. I am so glad it was very minimal invasive! No scaring whatsoever. At the hospital I would walk and see the aquarium . It was truly my zen place. I wanted to mimic that same place at my house and have been wanting to start a salt water tank . I've had a fresh water tank all my life. But fresh water aquarium never really brought in the joy and passion I have for reefs. I am blessed that Marsh has been such a huge help in this process. From knowing nothing to at least knowing something now . I currently run a 70gal reef at home mainly LPS! I also have a few tank mates , pair Onyx clownfish and yellow tang.

I would like to propose a few events such as local fish store bus tour and beach clean up twice a year. Once during spring and fall !

I pledge to act according to the Marsh Bylaws and the Code of Conduct when addressing disagreements.

I don't have any pictures on my phone . But this was taken the other day while shrimping in Taiwan 2017 Board of Dirctors elections - Call for Volunteers!

I would like to run for a Director position, as I have been for the past year. I Joined Marsh around 2009, taking a couple years off in the middle. I started keeping fish when I was 5 or 6 years old. As I got older, the hobby grew with me. Once I got my own home, with a concrete foundation, whatever size my spouse would allow my only limit. My first reef was a 92g corner tank(with a 40g breeder satellite for frags), and after some time in that, I moved into a 125g (with a couple frag tanks, one of which is my current display) and stayed there until I needed to step out of the hobby again. Several years ago, I started a tank between 50g and 60g, the reef I currently have. I have kept almost every kind of coral except leathers, and I have helped out many hobbyists along the way.
I was involved in several projects over the last year for the club. The most notable one, is the development of the MARSH youTube channel. I want to take it to the next level over the next year. It needs more content, as it was started only recently. Anyone that attended Reef Currents probably saw me shooting video of the event. Within the next week or so, it should be appearing on our channel, all 3 speakers,in full, and a quick walk-through of most of the vendor area. In this day and age, video is an incredible tool to share information.

I look forward continuing my current roll with the club over the next year,

    Thank you all.

I would like to run for a Director position again.. I have been a MARSH member since 2009 and on the board three times and once as an officer. I have kept mostly fowlr tanks in the past (late 80's/90's). I took some time off to raise kids and then jumped back in, in 2009... I have been keeping mostly small mixed reef tanks since then.. Still trying to get that big one going...

I would like to propose that we have a couple of BBQ's over the summer (I will host one, kids can come swim in pool) maybe a have a prize drawing or mini swap.., and possibly see about a tour of the Corpus Christi aquarium in addition to our annual back stage tour at Moody Gardens. I'm big on Coral Restoration Foundation sponsorship and would like to see if there are any initiatives for artificial reef building MARSH could fund drive for.

I like the idea of beech cleanup in the fall when it is a little cooler...

Thanks John! This is pretty much all you have to do. You need to be a paid MARSH member in good standing for 9 months or more and submit your bio. Maybe give the club a little bit about your background. Read the other bios submitted as a go by. For now, I'll still add you to the list of running directors.

If I am being honest, I will admit that I have not decided if I would like to pursue a new year as a continuing BoD member. It's important to do a self-check before taking a step like this. That being said, I've had the unique opportunity to give this BoD thing a test drive the past few months when I was asked to step in to fill a void left when one of our then current BoD members had to step down. I would like to share that perspective with anyone who is considering throwing your hat in the mix.

I saw the amount of hard work these folks put into MARSH. The 3+ hour conference calls every week. Doing store visits on the weekends. The way each member carried their weight to make things run smoothly behind the scenes. Are they crazy? YES! It is a special kind of crazy however that carries infectious passion about this club and the hobby that brings us all together here. Like all well oiled machines, it is only as strong as its weakest person. I wouldn't want to deter anyone from throwing their hat in the mix, but I would encourage you to take time to consider it first and do a self-check. You HAVE to show up! Be part of a team. Take the good with the bad, and be able seperate personal from professional. You would serve something much bigger than yourself and give a great deal of yourself and your time. Sometimes you will have to make a tough choice for the right reason, sometimes for the wrong reason. But the reward can be so fulfilling! We need fresh perspective and idea's. So if this is you, I would encourage you to take that step and see where it takes you.

Remember too, if you feel you can't commit, there is a need for strong volunteers as well. Folks like you who will always answer the call to help. To step in and assist, to host, donate, share your ideas and support without the added weight of being a BoD Member. Good luck to you all :-) Can't wait to see what lies ahead for MARSH!
