The leaves need to be sprayed very frequently (daily is good practice). The trees export the salt through their leaves. Use fresh RO water or tap. RO is better. This will help your plant tremendously.

Ohh BTW, the mud is not the issue. The salt is.

Most people don't realize that these trees can be grown and thrive in total fresh water.

Their roots grow just as well in mid water as they do in the sand, mud, and rocks.

Magnesium helps them export the sodium. If your mag is too low...you will see a tree that's unhealthy and the leaves will begin to yellow, die, and fall off.

Dont let any leaves fall into the water. Pluck them out.

The leaves are your nutrient export btw...

LOL I was thinking that. I think a small but very important detail is the tank being rimless. Just adds that clean precise look. I'll definitely go rimless if I do this.

I knew to pluck the leaves...but only in the last week or so!

So I just removed my sump. Cleaned it out, added a bit more algae and added an inch of mud and did a 25% water change. I found 3 leaves at the bottom of my sump. Honestly not sure if I will keep it (the mud) or not as there is a bit of settling over the first week or so, but I will stick it out. I dont mind trying new things....its a good way to learn. Later tonight I will do new readings and dose accordingly.
