Algae check at the 3 month mark. Tank is still unstable and not really growing at all. Monti's are starting to grow and that's about it.

Just tested the PO4 for 1st time in 14 days. 71 ppb on ULR. 0.21ppm

pics are after I cleaned tank.

Thanks...I expect good growth in a few months if I can get the rocks to stop leeching.

The PO4 has really taken a toll on the coral. I've never had brown coral before. I've noticed as the PO4 has been under 100 ppb now, the color is starting to come back a little. The green slimers are trying to turn green. Some of the purple acros are starting to color up slightly. Anything north of 0.25 just turns the coral brown in a young tank.

I can't get the tank stable until the rocks stop leeching. I've been dosing Lanthanum 2x a week to keep the tank under control. I've also been micro bubbling all night and sometimes during the day as well. I'm constantly blowing off the rocks and skimming wet. Clean the skimmer cup every 3 days when it gets full. Also clean the neck. Running socks to catch all the detritus after I stir it all up. I make sure I micro bubble during the process, because the tiny bubbles stick to the detritus and export it into the overflow and down the drains to the socks and skimmer.

Will be nice to actually sit back and enjoy the tank when the leeching stops. Can't wait to see some good growth.

I had a huge PO4 spike. I was thinking where did that come from? I asked my wife if she had fed the tank and she said no. So in my mind I thought yeah right. I decided to start investigating trying to figure out what caused it. I bought some big Mexican turbo snails when I first started having the leeching PO4 issues in fear of an algae outbreak. Once I started to control the PO4 with Lanthanum, I no longer needed the big snails. They bulldozed a few corals over so I decided to put them in my sump. A week later I realized that they crap A LOT! It was all over the bottom of my sump. So then I moved them to the remote tank. Fast forward back to PO4 spike. I thought that maybe all this snail poop broke down and could potentially be the problem. So I started to siphon out the sump. Then I moved to the remote tank because I noticed they pooped quite a bit in there too. When I started to siphon the poop out...wow, the smell was super foul. I noticed I had seen an orange diatom looking algae on the front glass that started appearing 2 weeks prior. The turbo snails had all died due to starvation and boy did they stink. It was like dead animals. Horrible smell! I cut the flow to that tank, took the Siporax out, and then drained the whole tank. The smell was unbelievable! I collected all the snails in a sandwich bag and threw them in my dumpster. Filled a brute with saltwater and rinsed my Siporax baskets out. Filled the remote tank back up and problem solved. Who would have thought.?

I've been running without any water changes until I drained that tank. I gotta say my tank is definitely more stable this way. I'm still dealing with the elevated PO4, but everything else is on point. I do wanna note how strong Lanthanum is. I mixed 1ML LC to 1,000ML RO/DI. Dripped 1/2 or 500ML's over 3-4 hours. It dropped the PO4 from 0.40 to 0.23. This was enough to deflate one Magnifica. Nothing else was affected, but my other two Gigantea and Magnifica did seem to get slightly smaller. System is about 150/G total volume. So 1/2 or 3/4 ML to 1000ML's is a good starting dose for that size system. This should be dripped in 5+ hrs.

Jared quick question what is siporax? I've seen it around but don't know what it is or what it does! Thank you in advance!

    Lucas. Happy reefing!
