If you trust ICP testing you can always take readings, note them, and then send off a water sample. I have done this against my Hanna checker and Red Sea tests and it was close enough for me.

I have a LOT of trouble seeing the color changing tests so would really like a Ca and Nitrate reader at some point. Dont get me started on my Ca Hanna checker....I really should sell it and let someone else get frustrated with it.

Yeah, I do annual ICP tests so might have to benchmark it against one the next time I do it.

The Ca checker is rubbish... The sensitivity in testing protocol is too high that any margin of error and its magnified a ton over in the final results. I wasn't aware of a saltwater NO3 checker. Did they release one?

I'm with you, color change tests are lost in me. I know only 4 colors...

Also, my SBREEF bars have violet diodes in them. Apparently at that spectrum, acrylic can burn. There were haze marks and burns on the acrylic where each violet LED diode was. I went ahead and made the decision to drill out the acrylic cover and open the fixture to the elements. Its nice that it was sealed so nicely but my Ocean Revive units run similar diodes and are completely not sealed and have lasted for 3-4 years now so I'm not too worried these are open to the elements now.

I wonder if lexan would be a better choice over acrylic.

I was trying to reply with quote and I guess I hit edit instead..

I'd like to file a formal complaint against BOD member Cody for abusive and berating language in my build thread. He has created a hostile environment in my thread where I do not feel welcome and safe. ATXacrofarmer 215-gallon SPS tank I'm totally kidding by the way (that's to cover my butt in this crazy litigious and highly sensitive society we live in now).
