    Almost that time of year!!!!

Spring is almost here time to do some collecting!! Who is coming with me? Just wondering if anyone does any collecting in galveston? I have been collecting for about three years now and I am always amazed at what you can get. I have some new tactics i want to try but need help. So who is up for a beach day or night?

I'm in. I have been wanting to do this for a while but have no clue what I am doing. When are you thinking?

Cody, collecting critters from Galveston for your tank.

Depends on what you want to catch. Mostly just dragging a dip net and digging through seaweed. But i have a seine net that i want to pull and a few other frankenstein nets that i made.

What area of Galveston do you go to for collecting? We usually take the ferry (kids love it) and go to Bolivar Peninsula and there are tons of shrimp out there that are different colors - not the peppermint shrimp others usually see/go for.

My wife and I would really enjoy going out there though!

I'm down to go one night in Galveston. Peps are out off the rocks. Nick will go. I need to text him.

Sounds good. If you are going to come you will need a fishing license, a minnow net with small holes, gloves, old clothes, and not afraid to get wet. I have a couple of nets i will share. I was just seeing if i had any interest to go but i geuss i should have known better. If you are new at it i will try and pick a day with slack tide so the waves are not to bad the rocks get slippery. let me check the forecast but probably at least a couple of weeks so the water can warm up.

Depends on what you want to catch. You can go on the( rock groins for peps, blennies, and a few reef fish, etc)(,go to the bay for gobies, blennies , porcellin crabs, toad fish, skillet fish, etc)(in the surf for bigger fish and sargassum with uncountable things to catch shrimp, crabs, juvi reef fish, etc.) As far as where i go is from the east end of the island to about 12 mile road or pirates beach.(beach and bay side) here is a website to give you a better idea of what is there to catch. txmarspecies.tamug.edu/index.cfm
