CAL and MAG aren't that important to test as ALK.
You can drop a gallon of that stuff in your tank and it will upset your corals only, now drop a gallon of ALK in youtr tank and you got a crash on your hand.
I test ALK everyday at the same time at 5 in the morning as also the No3 at that time as that's the only time I have I spend on my tank (don't know why I have a tank anymore)
Weekly on the big three just cause I have the test kits.

If your ALK is still high just let it come down by it self.

Thanks for your help. I test weekly at a minimum, but it's the 4 from the API kit. Once I got a calcium test (the API one), I began testing that periodically along with alk. Then I got the magnesium test (Salifert), but have only tested twice in somewhat of an attempt to figure out the calcium thing going on... or that I thought was going on. At this point I think I will begin testing alk more regularly, especially until I see a drop. I got the Salifert test for it a couple of weeks ago.

You are very good to test daily, at 5 in the morning no less! I am sure that is one reason why your tank is successful Thank you again for your insight. I appreciate it.

Thanks for snapping a pic and posting it. I am shocked! I can get things to grow in my tank with TLC!!!! Why don't you help your mom and dad out with their tank? I'm sure it could be beautiful.
