Starfish Spawn, I think (1 Viewer)

I did a water change about an hour ago. About 30 minutes ago, I saw my sand stirrer start rising up out of the sandbed and begin sloughing off its coating of sand, then it raised its middle section all the way up until is was standing on the tips of its 5 legs. My first thought was that I had killed it (Salinity dropped from 1.025 to 1.022 during the water change).

I grabbed my camera and snapped a couple shots for posterity. A few minutes later I see a white "threads" emitting from bulbous areas near the centerring on each leg. That was when it clicked with me that I was proably seeing a spawn. Here are a couple of pictures of the event; more can be seen at the link in my sig.

This is my first attempt at uploading here...hopefully it works.

That's really cool. I've never seen any of my starfish do anything remotely like that.
It's amazing the stuff we get to see in our tanks.
