I bought this SPS coral from a LFS yesterday here in Corpus Christi. It was just traded in and the trader had just left. I know its a type of Acropora but I'm not sure what type. I took it home and floated the bag for about 30 minutes, then drip acclimated it for about an hour. Its doing fine so far (from what I can see) and It's looking great in my tank!

Thanks in advance for the help. I have it in my 90 gallon reef setup with about 90lbs of LR, 4bulb T5HO lighting ( im keeping it at the top 1/3 of tank until i get my Halides on) and all my params are good.

I have seen similar corals online listed as purple bonsai garden, maybe thats it but I'm not much of an expert on SPS.

I've seen it called Garf Bonsai and Purple Monster. One thing is for sure, it is beautiful! Nice looking colony you got there.

+1 on the Garf.
I'm sure it isn't a Purple monster.
I have both, Garf Purple and the Blue, also have the Purple monster.
Sure Jason (Ostentum) can chime in on this, he used to have a large colony of the P M.
Never the less, Awesome coral dude!

Definitely agree it is Purple/ Garf Bonsai. I haven't seen purple monster in so long. Purple Monster does not have the green polyps. Bonsai has the beautiful green polyps. I apologize for the confusion. So glad my fellow reefers can keep me straight. I really like this website alot! Once again, great post of the bonsai you scored.

Not a purple monster and its too small for me to say if its a garf bonsai or not. I had decent sized colonies of both at one point. Beautiful piece nonetheless and would love a frag at some point. There are a ton of bonsai type acros that are making an appearance as of lately.
